Robert James Sawyer CM OOnt (born April 29, 1960) is a Canadian and American science fiction writer. He has had 24 novels published [3] and his short fiction has appeared in Analog Science Fiction and Fact , Amazing Stories , On Spec , Nature , and numerous anthologies.
Sawyer is something of a rowdy version of Alfred Jingle; a young man completely without parental guidance. He would like to marry Arabella Allen and have her money, but he also genuinely likes her. He is inventive, coming up with several ingenious, hapless tricks to increase his medical practice.
Harris temporarily disbanded Iron Maiden in December 1976 so he could replace Rance and Sulivan with guitarists Dave Murray and Bob Sawyer. By mid-1977 Matthews, Murray and Sawyer were both fired, and replaced by guitarist Terry Wapram and keyboardist Tony Moore and drummer Thunderstick (real name Barry Purkis).
Bob Sawyer is a medical student and a friend of Benjamin Allen. He appears in the novel The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens, along with other members of the Pickwick Club.
