Moanalua is a valley, a stream, an ahupuaʻa, and a residential neighborhood in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. The valley extends inland from behind Āliapaʻakai crater ( Salt Lake ) to the crest of the Koʻolau Range .
Jul 10, 2023 · The Moanalua Valley Trail to Haiku stairs hiking route is one of the most adventurous hikes on Oahu. The hike follows the Moanalua Valley Trail before connecting up the Moanalua Middle Ridge, which is the legal ‘backway’ to the Stairway to Heaven (Haiku Stairs) satellite summit.
So it is with the 24-acre Moanalua Gardens, home to a 1900 Japanese Tea House (the gift shop), King Kamehameha V’s 1850’s summer cottage and a very ornate 1903 Chinese Hall. Moanalua also has a number of very large monkey pod trees.

Aug 17, 2018 · The trail takes you to the same lookout as the Haiku Stairs. Once up on the ridge, the view is absolutely incredible!! The hike is challenging, and I would not recommend if you are not physically fit or if you are scared of heights as the trail is not very wide and drops off on each side.
The Moanalua Valley Trail is a 9-mile round trip hike that begins at the Moanalua Valley Park and takes you deep into the lush rainforests and towering cliffs of the Ko'olau Range. The trail is renowned for its steep ascents, stunning waterfalls, and, of course, the infamous Haiku Stairs, which has earned it the nickname "Stairway to Heaven."
