Mayor of San Francisco: George Moscone, killed in office November 27, 1978, was immediately succeeded by Board of Supervisors President Dianne Feinstein as acting mayor, until elected as mayor in a vote of 6-2 among remaining active supervisors (excluding herself) on December 4.
