Datuk Onn Jaafar di lahirkan pada tahun 1895 di Bukit Gambir, Jalan Gertak Merah, Johor Bharu. Beliau merupakan anak yang ketiga dari tujuh orang anak lelaki dan tujuh orang anak perempuan.
Dato' Onn Jaafar. Beliau dilahirkan di Bukit Gambir, Jalan Gertak Merah, Johor Bahru serta merupakan anak kepada Datuk Jaafar bin Haji Muhammad, Menteri Besar Johor yang pertama. Seorang kerabat diraja Johor, beliau dipelihara oleh Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Abu Bakar sejak kecil, dan mendapat pendidikan Melayu sebelum melanjutkan pelajarannya di England.
