Zaynab bint ʿĀmir ibn ʿUwaymir ibn ʿAbd Shams ibn ʿAttāb al-Farāsīyya al-Kinānīyya, known by her kunya " Umm Rūmān " ( Arabic: أمّ رومان زينب بنت عامر ابن عويمر ابن عبد شمس ابن عتاب الفراسية الكنانية) [1] was a female companion of Muhammad. Hazrate Umm Ruman (R.A) stood by her husband in the time of adversity when all Muslim suffered torture and persecution. When the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) married Hazrate Aisha (R.A) , Hazrate Umm Ruman (R.A) got pleased with such an honourable lineage.
Umm Ruman was a widow when she married Hz. Abu Bakr. Hz. Aisha and Hz. Abdurahman were born out of this marriage. She became a Muslim during the first years of Islam. She supported Hz. Abu Bakr during the days of trouble and torture. She showed patience in the presence of all of the hardships in the way of Allah.
Sayyidatuna Umm-e-Ruman رَضِیَ اللّٰەُ عَنْهَا was amongst the blessed Sahabiyyat of the early days of Islam. She رَضِیَ اللّٰەُ عَنْهَا was an ascetic and pious woman. She made great sacrifices for the sake of Islam.
Ummu Ruman bintu ‘Amir. Is this Hadith authentic? “As she was being lowered into her grave, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘Anyone who wants to see a Hur [a woman of Jannah], should look at Ummu Ruman.” [i.e. Nabi sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam gave glad tidings that she will be in Jannah]. Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A) married Hazrate Umm Ruman (R.A) to protect her and to commemorate the memory of his friend. Hazrate Umm Ruman (R.A) accepted Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A) as a husband by whom she gave birth to Hazrat Abdur Rahman (R.A) and Hazrate Aisha (R.A) (the mother of the believers).
باب فِي الأُرْجُوحَةِ. Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) married me when I was seven or six. When we came to Medina, some women came. according to Bishr's version: Umm Ruman came to me when I was swinging. They took me, made me prepared and decorated me.
