Today, Grittleton House School is a co-educational, family run day school with the Flying Start Nursery, pre-prep, prep and senior schools for children aged from 2 to 16 years. We offer a wide range of facilities within the school and surrounding 35 acres.
In 1948 a private girl’s school which had been based at Doddington House (now owned by James Dyson) moved into the bigger premise at Grittleton House.

Grittleton House School is a relaxed and welcoming place where all the pupils, teaching and support staff know each other. Older pupils act as mentors for the younger members of the school family and form a key part of helping them settle in and feel at home.
Our Historical Story. Mrs Joanna Shipp founded our school in 1951. Her ethos for the school was simple – find the best in everyone. Mrs Shipp believed that everyone has their own gifts and talents and that a successful school is one that recognises this and treats each child as an individual.
Admissions. Grittleton House School is a non-selective school. Prospective pupils visit the school, take a tour, meet the Headmaster and have an interview. The Headmaster will offer places to those children that he thinks will enjoy and benefit from coming to Grittleton House School.
