Yuri Valentinovich Knorozov (Russian: Ю́рий Валенти́нович Кноро́зов; 19 November 1922 – 31 March 1999) was a Soviet and Russian linguist, epigrapher, and ethnographer.
Yury Valentinovich Knorozov was a Russian linguist, epigraphist, and ethnologist, who played a major role in the decipherment of Mayan hieroglyphic writing. Knorozov fought in the Soviet armed forces during World War II and graduated from Moscow State University in 1948.
