  1. Andrei Stepanovich Plakhov (Russian: Андрей Степанович Плахов; born 14 September 1950) is a Russian film critic and historian of cinema, columnist for Kommersant newspaper. Honorary President of the International Federation of Film Critics .

  2. Andrei Plakhov graduated from VGIK (1978) and received his “Kandidatskaiadegree in 1982. He has taught film history and theory at VGIK since 1983. He is the current President of FIPRESCI. His books include “Catherine Deneuve” (1989) and “Altogether 33: Stars of World Cinema” (1999).

  4. Georgian director Otar Iosseliani, a great poet of cinema, died on 17 December 2023 at the age of 89. Due to Soviet censorship, he emigrated to France in 1982, where he made his most famous film in 1984: "Les favoris de la lune" (The Favourites of the Moon). Film critic Andrey Plakhov, who now lives in Germany, pays tribute to his work.
