  1. The game plays very similar to Pokemon games where the player must collect dinosaurs by excavating and then cleaning fossils. Battles, in this game, take place as random encounters on the overworld map. The game features a total of 72 dinosaurs available not including secret dinosaur characters that can only be obtained by entering a special code.

This article is a stub. You can help Dinosaur King by expanding it

This is a list of all DS Game Battles. It is divided by continent sub-area (both different maps and smaller, usually blocked-off regions of the same map are noted), listing the available random encounters followed by static Alpha Droids and Alpha Gang bosses in order of encounter (refer to the Walkthrough for more details) and describing special cases and postgame content as appropriate. Static Droids are noted as being placed to either be required or skippable; all bosses are required.

Listed for each opponent is their Experience (10x level if random encounter) and chell (money) payout, any possible item drops static encounters may give {random encounter drops by area will be added after enough data is gathered}, each of their dinosaurs (with Critical Move, Battle Type whether one or multiple varieties exist, level, and Moves), and commenting on their usual strategies (which may vary both during and between battles, especially among static encounters). Any turn an Alpha Droid fails to give a hint, it may be breaking its pattern to use a random move, or may still be following its pattern, only silently. While Supply Droids do give dialogue, this is in response to the previous turn (debut/win/lose/tie) and does not consistently hint at their next move. Static and random Alpha Droid strategies become increasingly varied with fewer hints and more random pattern breaks as the game progresses, so this is not a strict or comprehensive list of rules; regardless of area or static/random, Alpha Droids will usually repeat any winning sign, though they will react to ties differently by area or individual. All static and Supply Droids have every Dinosaur listed in each encounter, while non-Supply random Droids have only one; random Droids with each available option within a given area are assumed to have equal rates of encounter, with Supply Droids likely being less common (though anecdotal experience suggests certain encounters are more likely in certain regions of a map, most notably North Euro Plain).

Boss (tutorial) Dr. Z (1) [30 Exp, 30 chell; very rare Workbook, very rare Small Dino Drink] [scripted win, you will never be attacked]

    •Tyrannosaurus P (? Type) LV1 (Tail, Ram, Throw)

    North Euro Plain

This static battle is set before random encounters are possible. Reese gives hints in this battle. Static (required) Purple Alpha Droid [10 Exp, 30 chell] •Irritator R (Defense) LV1 (Tail, Ram, Throw) •Starts with Critical Move; beats player's last winning move. Beats the previous tying move. Before the bridge, Reese gives hints on all turns. In early areas, all random Alpha Droids of a given area share the same strategy. Random Purple Alpha Droids (Tail, Ram, Throw) [10 chell] •Gorgosaurus P (Tie) LV1; Irritator R (Defense) LV2; Einiosaurus S (Attack) LV1; Wuerhosaurus P (Defense) LV2; Ouranosaurus R (Attack) LV1; Dilophosaurus S (Defense) LV2 •Starts with Critical Move; beats player's last winning move. Beats the previous tying move. The North Mine must be cleared before progressing. After the bridge, different-leveled encounters have hints given by either Reese (nearly all turns) or the Alpha Droid itself (most turns); Droids giving their own hints may rarely break their pattern starting in this area. Reese gives hints in most battles in the northern reaches of the map, transitioning to Alpha Droids farther south; oddly, Reese's Ouranosaurus and Dilophosaurus appear to be exclusive to the northwestern Euro Town Memorial Tree area. The Alpha Droids' differing levels per Dinosaur may either be by uneven chance (the only area to do so if the case) or by non-obvious area divisions, each level in one region. Random Purple Alpha Droids (Tail, Ram, Throw) [30 chell] •Reese's hints: Gorgosaurus P (Tie) LV3; Irritator R (Defense) LV4; Einiosaurus S (Attack) LV5; Wuerhosaurus P (Defense) LV3; Ouranosaurus R (Attack) LV4; Dilophosaurus S (Defense) LV5 •Droid's hints: Gorgosaurus P (Tie) LV4, LV5; Irritator R (Defense) LV3, LV4, LV5; Einiosaurus S (Attack) LV3, LV5; Wuerhosaurus P (Defense) LV3, LV4, LV5; Ouranosaurus R (Attack) LV3, LV4, LV5; Dilophosaurus S (Defense) LV3, LV5 •Starts with Critical Move; beats player's last winning move. Beats the previous tying move. Static (optional) Purple spike-eared Alpha Droid [200 Exp, 100 chell] •Iguanodon S (Attack) LV5 (Tail, Ram, Throw) •Einiosaurus S (Attack) LV6 (Tail, Ram, Throw) •Starts by blocking player's Critical Move; uses different move after being hit by a non-Critical and beats player's winning Critical Move. Beats the previous tying move.

Beats the previous tying move.

Beats the previous tying move. •"Heh heh heh… How do you like this?!"—if 2 options for you, beats stronger one Static (optional) Green spike-eared Alpha Droid [300 Exp, 100 chell] •Dacentrurus P (Blitz) LV8 (Tail Attack, Tackle, Swing) •Allosaurus S (Tie) LV9 (Tail Attack, Tackle, Swing) •Starts by losing to player's Critical Move; copies player's last winning move and uses a non-Critical Move after losing to the player’s Critical. Loses to the previous tying move. •Whether each Dinosaur will use a different move after being hit by a Critical Move varies by Dinosaur and area of the map (NW corner, SW corner, and the full central and eastern stretch at least appear to be the three divisions). This continent and all of its locations are exclusive to the postgame. Static Alpha Droids starting here repeat hints from the Headquarters Droids. •It appears as if Isisaurus (Giant Fossil), Triceratops (starter choice), Arrhinoceratops (just rare postgame), Parasaurolophus (set late postgame), Carnotaurus (starter choice), and Gojirasaurus (just rare main story) are the only regular Dinosaurs not to be used by foes in the game (at least as documented). Among EX Dinosaurs, Therizinosaurus, Megalosaurus, the featherless Deinonychus, the main anime six, Mini-King, Charonosaurus, and the Awakened Dinosaurs are unused.

•Random Alpha Droids in Europe only use 1-star Dinosaurs, in Asia only use 2-star Dinosaurs, in North America mainly use 3-star Dinosaurs (save the 2-star Centrosaurus), in Antarctica only use 4-star Dinosaurs, in Africa use 4-star Dinosaurs in Kalimba Desert and 5-star Dinosaurs in the Alpha Fortress, and in postgame North America only use 5-star Dinosaurs in East Dust Hills and either 3- or 5-star Dinosaurs in the Secret Base.

•Most Alpha Droids' Dinosaurs are not available on the continent they are used on, despite the story claiming the Alpha Gang to be acquiring their fossils from the dig sites they overtake.

•The six Red Super Alpha Droids guarding access to the Super Alpha Dinosaur Mystery Fossils are the only static battles that cannot be fought immediately despite the enemy already being present, as other Alpha Droids set to be fought later (such as in Darkwood) don't appear until they can be fought. The only half-exception is the Deinonychus-using Alpha Droid in South Dust Hills, who is disguised as an explorer NPC until its battle starts.
