Bellingcat is a Netherlands-based organisation that uses open-source intelligence (OSINT) to fact-check and report on war zones, human rights abuses, and the criminal underworld. Founded by Eliot Higgins in 2014, it has investigated cases such as MH17, Skripal poisoning, and Alexei Navalny.
Bellingcat uses open source research methods to investigate topics of public interest, such as the MH17 crash, police violence and wildlife trade. It also trains and collaborates with journalists, activists and the public.
