They trained together in Los Angeles and Randy changed his tune about fighting Fedor shortly after, so the general consensus was that Fedor tooled him. There used to be pictures of the training online, but I haven't been able to find them for years.

May 21, 2008 · It doesn't matter what Vitor would take, he could never truly beat Randy. Randy knew how to beat him and always would, that one eye injury freak accident aside. Randy knows how to avoid the blitz and Vitor cannot defend the takedown. Randy wins 9/10 times

We think, ‘Oh, it will never happen to me,’ and unfortunately, it is going to happen to a lot of us if we don’t take care of this window and opportunity we have.” Couture can understand why fighters miss that window. He fought his way to the top and was privileged to be one of the promotion’s biggest stars.
Apr 14, 2016 · Iirc when he mended fences with the UFC-- Undisputed 2009 and Undisputed 2010 were already developed. His last fight was in 2011 and UFC 3 came out in 2012. If I remember right when the tensions started again Randy refused to sign his name over for the UFC 3 game and split ways company. He was in EA MMA though.

I would have assumed that Randy would have been a black belt in this style, so I don't know about the black belt he was awarded.

He started his career in Japan and lost to Valentijn Overeem by guillotine. For me he was the best role model for UFC compare to Conor and Sean o Mailey as we see today.
Jul 6, 2017 · Green, White & Gold belt. I respect Randy but let's have some perspective. He never even started MMA until his mid 30s. Anderson and BJ have been pro fighters from their early 20s. He was massively enhanced in a time that testing was non existent. He was fighting in the worst half of a split division.
Oct 22, 2010 · He didn't absorb a single punch, didn't let it get out of the first round. Toney just hugged him on the ground. Randy got the first takedown he went for, advanced position and finished him. It was methodical and in any other context, pretty goddamn dominant. Are we really going to split hairs about how he didn't tap him in 30 seconds?
