Jan 1, 2020 · Dota 2 on liquidpedia is basically the best resource though. CSGO has other resources, and many of the other games further down that list are actually much newer wikis that didn't exist a year or two ago.

Over the years TL started covering other games (Dota, Hearthstone, League, etc), and Liquipedia expanded into what it is now as a result of that. Now while the origins of Team Liquid were with the SC website/Liquipedia, the connection to the pro team is fairly small these days (aside from name and the fact that Victor AKA Liquid`Nazgul owns both).
Early dota developed a lot of hardcore fan bases. A lot of the players are older now but they still love the professional players that they loved five or 10 years ago. Alliance still has fans. Dendi still has fans. You don't have to be modernly relevant to still be riding the wave of TI-2 through TI6.
not OP, but as an avid ice hockey and dota2 fan liquipedia is miles ahead in term of simple information access. For example the double elimination view with the information (countdown, draft, stream) and simple layout is a god send for information consuming.

So the top 8 won't change. Somewhat weird that the supermajor makes no difference DPC wise. Valve would probably do a "fuck the rules" move if VGJ Storm or EG manages to reach top 8.
