May 20, 2021 · Hanami Lane. The entertainment district of Kyoto known as Gion has long been associated with geisha (or geiko, as they are known in Kyoto) and traditional Japanese arts. Hanami Lane ( hanamikoji, see map) contains some of the most beautiful traditional architecture in the district.
An utterly fascinating place. There are several micro-neighborhoods within Gion, it this is definitely worth a visit and not far from the city center. The old wooden shops, lanterns, and cherry blossoms were a site to behold. The biggest downside is it is crowded.

Starting from Gion -Shijo Station on the Keihan Railway, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and casually stroll around Gion Shopping Street, Hanamikouji Street, and Yasaka Shrine.
