Digitisation of Inmate Rehabilitation and Corrections Tool (DIRECT) allows inmates to connect with their families and friends through e-letters in addition to regular visits. From January 2022, inmates are able to view their incoming letters, postcards and greeting cards on their DIRECT electronic tablets.

The inmates are aware of their release dates and next-of-kin may ask them during visit sessions or through e-letters. The estimated time of release is not applicable to remand inmates who are awaiting their release upon bail approval.

Apr 21, 2022 · DIRECT allows inmates to send and receive e-letters to keep in touch with their loved ones. They can also access materials which will help in their rehabilitation journey.
With DIRECT, inmates have access to resources such as e-letters, e-books and various rehabilitation programmes. The inmates can make use of the e-letter app to foster ties with their loved ones, while learning materials enable them to learn at their own pace and take greater ownership of their rehabilitation.
Feb 21, 2024 · You may send 1 e-letter to each inmate contact per day. Do note that all e-Letters undergo screening and approval by SPS. Processing of the e-letters can take up to 10 days, but may be longer if additional security screening is required.
