Kirkby Lonsdale is a small and relatively unspoilt market town situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Kirkby (historically known as Kirkby-in-Cleveland) is a village and civil parish in Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England, near Great Busby and 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Stokesley. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as belonging to Uhtred.
