Aug 11, 2022 · Currently reading Jennette McCurdy's memoir "I'm Glad My Mom Died". I was expecting it to be interesting - I'm blown away. There's been a lot of hype for this book, so I was expecting a more-so-than-normal interesting celebrity memoir, but what I'm reading goes so far and beyond what I expected.
Jennette narrates it herself, which is amazing and gives the narrative voice even more depth and authenticity. But for me it also made it a little more difficult to get through. I grew up watching her on TV and hearing her story in her own voice was really powerful and heartbreaking. I had to take several breaks. Incredibly worth it though

Sep 3, 2022 · ho_kay. ADMIN MOD. I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy is the best book I've read this year. Her choice of perspective, especially when expounding on her early years, creates an immediacy of experience where you feel like you're right there with this poor kid as she tries in vain to be perfect for her abusive mother.

There were a couple of people that would have made the doc worthwhile. Angelique bates was getting abused by her mother on set in front of producers and no one said anything. Jenette McCurdy has done enough. Her book being the whistleblower on this was more than enough to get the ball rolling on this case.
When you're making a company buckets of money, they're willing to over look a lot to keep you around. If they publicly out you, then they look bad and all of your work is tainted and worth less money. If they silently fire you, then you just move to a different network and make them boatloads of money.
