Lana Cakes Since 1964. Mrs Violet Kwan, 94, started baking the beloved chocolate fudge cakes in 1964. Her sister-in-law Lani, who was in Singapore on a visit from Hawaii where she lived, baked and gave her friends delightful chiffon cakes which she had learned while working in a bakery.

When we make coconut cake, we go to Teka Market to buy fresh grated coconut. We prepare coconut cream the old traditional way using a muslin cloth.

The shop was opened in 1975 by Violet Kwan, who had begun selling cakes from her home in 1964. Kwan learned the cake's recipe from her sister-in-law, Lani.
Lana Cakes is a family-owned and operated cake shop located at 36 Greenwood Avenue, Bukit Timah. The cake shop is known among Singaporeans for its timeless classic chocolate fudge cake. Since its opening on 2 November 1975, the cake has been a crowd favourite for birthday parties and other celebrations.
