The seventh episode of Season 22 of Hell's Kitchen aired on November 9, 2023. In that episode, the chefs worked on their grilling skills, a lopsided steak night occurred, and one chef was given the power to send a teammate home.

After returning to the dorms, Donya broke down upon seeing Raneisha go home as she considered the latter her second mom. As the women hugged it out, they recalled all their good moments with Raneisha.

The following morning, the chefs went outside to see a parade walk past the front of the restaurant. They saw Marino as the chairman of the parade and Ms. Idaho, with Johnathan stating that Ramsay knew how to celebrate the Fourth of July. Ramsay said no matter what holiday America celebrated, they grilled for those days. The Sous Chefs pulled down the flag to reveal stations with Vision brand grills, items that Atoye wanted. For the Grilling Challenge, both teams were tasked with cooking elevated dishes using the provided grills.

Both teams had 45 minutes to grill their dishes, and each chef had a protein to cook with. Atoye and Dahmere cooked the chicken thigh, Leigh and Jason cooked the chicken breast, Sandra and Ryan cooked the swordfish, Johnathan and Sammi cooked the trout, Carmen and Devon cooked the flat iron steak, and Donya and Jermaine cooked the tri-tip steak. Donya said she used to work in a steakhouse and already knew what she wanted to make. On the blue side, Johnathan and Dahmere casually talked about the Fourth of July while Atoye poured bourbon into a pan so she could use it as a reduction for her dish. Devon knew that the flat iron was a forgiving protein to grill, but he knew he must be careful not to overcook it. With twenty-two and a half minutes left, both teams seemed comfortable cooking their dishes, and each chef tasted their dishes. With three minutes left, Sous Chef Jason caught Devon slicing his steak too early, as that should be the last thing to do. Eventually, everyone had their dishes cooked and plated on time. Johnathan felt great about his creation and knew Ramsay would love it.

Aaron Franklin came to guest judge, and Leigh got excited as she and her husband watched him every morning. Ryan and Sandra were up first, and the latter presented her citrus and paprika-marinated swordfish with charred corn salsa and grilled potato salad. Franklin loved the flavor of the swordfish but wished she added more salt to the potatoes. Ryan's swordfish salmoriglio with grilled smashed baby potatoes and lemon-tarragon aioli had an overpowered sauce and was too salty, and Franklin gave a point to Sandra. The women led 1-0, and Sandra felt stoked to beat Ryan. In round two, Atoye's bourbon glazed chicken thigh with grilled vegetables had a slightly burned piece of chicken, but Franklin loved the slaw component. Then, Dahmere's smoky chipotle chicken thigh with chimichurri had great flavors and a balance of heat that Franklin liked. Dahmere scored over Atoye, making it a one-point tie. Afterwards, Dahmere said every day was another chance to show Ramsay he could run one of his establishments and make his American dream come true. As Leigh and Jason went up, the former felt her heart beat fast as she worried about the chicken breast's cook. Still, Leigh's shawarma marinated chicken breast with an Israeli green Ju sauce and ginger lime salad was praised for having good moisture retention, and Franklin loved the balanced flavor of the chicken. In contrast, Jason's dry-rubbed barbecue chicken breast with grilled corn had everything well done, but the chicken was overcooked. Leigh scored that round, and the women led 2-1, making her proud that she did something great in front of her idol.

In the fourth round, Sammi's Dijon marinated trout with charred corn and asparagus relish was deemed good and had great acidity. Then, Johnathan's blackened trout with a charred lemon hollandaise sauce had a great cook on the fish, and Franklin decided to award the former and Sammi a point each. The women led 3-2, and Sammi did not mind the tie as it was better than getting nothing. As the fifth round commenced, Devon acknowledged Carmen as a great chef but thought he was better. Carmen's dry rubbed flat iron steak with grilled tomato salsa was deemed a little too far out there, making her worry as she saw Devon's plate be judged next. Devon's coffee and five spice rubbed flat iron on top of a fire-roasted bell pepper puree had great potatoes, but Franklin thought the steak was overcooked. After a tough decision, Franklin gave the point to Carmen, making Devon curse that he sliced his steak too early. While the women won the challenge 4-2, Ramsay brought Jermaine and Donya up so Franklin could taste their dishes. Donya's chimichurri steak with smoked coleslaw and blistered tomatoes was cooked beautifully, and Franklin said it was all balanced. Then, Jermaine's tri-top steak with pork and beans and grilled corn looked lifeless, but Franklin liked the flavors of the streak. However, Franklin gave the point to Donya, making it 5-2 as the final total. Franklin deemed Donya's dish the best of the day, pumping the latter up.

The women were rewarded with keeping the Vision brand grills, a day at Dave and Busters, and lunch cooked by Yamashiro. During the reward, Sandra was ready to let the crap from the previous four losses out of her system, while Carmen and Leigh hit targets by imagining they were hitting Jason's face. At lunch, Sammi liked the women's positive energy...

The men were punished by cleaning the grills, disassembling them, and packing them up for the women. During the punishment, Sous Chef Jason took away the grill brushes and gave the men toothbrushes to clean the grills. As the men cleaned the grills, the women arrived to board the SUVs as Sandra told them to give some elbow grease on the cleaning. W...

Later that night, both teams prepped for Steak Night. Once everyone was ready, Ramsay asked Marino to open Hell's Kitchen.

Steak Night featured pan-roasted filet mignon, 24 oz. bone-in ribeye, crispy skin Chilean sea bass, and a trio of sides to be served at every table. Jane Casupanan and Jazmin Avalos dined that night. Also, Rick Harrison and G-Eazy dined at the chefs' tables. Seeing G-Eazy made Sammi flustered, and made small talk with him before service began properly. As the men started appetizers, Johnathan knew they were nervous working with a new menu, and it was important for them to rally together. Fortunately, Jason and Johnathan's dishes were accepted. The women began firing appetizers in the red kitchen, and Atoye felt the adrenaline rush through her. Wanting to keep that up, Atoye got her appetizers accepted, and both kitchens got appetizers out at a steady pace.

Moving onto entrées, Sandra was confident about cooking meat that night, and Sammi walked the steaks to the pass. Ramsay praised Leigh for her spot-on fish while the men began firing entrées in the blue kitchen. Jermaine felt nervous as he was responsible for manning garnish and was told to get everything ready ahead of time. However, Jason noticed that Jermaine was not responding to anyone, and it would not be wise to wait until the last minute. Jermaine served his garnish, but the mushrooms were ice cold. The women got the chef's table order in the red kitchen, and Sandra felt they were doing well with their sexy vibe. However, Sandra brought up two ribeyes instead of the one needed, though she retorted that at least it was cooked well. Ramsay warned Sandra not to screw herself, but G-Eazy got his order and enjoyed it.

Jermaine served his refire one hour into service, but it was cold again. Jermaine was ready to accept any help he needed, but he served cold macaroni and cheese. Ramsay was unhappy that things were served cold, and Devon felt that garnish was dead in the weeds. Dahmere stepped up as the leader and got Jermaine's refire accepted. With entrées leaving the blue kitchen to happy diners, including Rick Harrison, the women got to work on their following order. However, Sandra struggled to recite the order until Ramsay called it again. Sammi knew that Sandra had forgotten the tickets easily and that if it continued, the women would lose someone that night. Still, the order was accepted, and Ramsay told Sandra to use her voice. In the blue kitchen, the men worked on their following order as Jason took it upon himself to help Jermaine with garnish. However, Ramsay saw that they were missing a New York striploin for the six-top order, and Devon promised he would have it in four minutes. As Ramsay served an incomplete order, Devon blamed Jermaine for falling apart and not reminding him of the order. Then, Ramsay sliced into a blue steak and pulled the men into the pantry for a quick meeting. Ramsay said that the women communicated well despite being swamped on orders and ordered the men to communicate. As the men returned to the kitchen, Devon tried to pull himself while everyone else was helping Jermaine with garnish. As Marino came to voice the table's complaint, Ramsay went to the red kitchen for the following order. Sammi thought their teamwork was great as they had each other's backs, and they would ride the wave through service. However, Sandra served an undercooked steak, and Ramsay said that was what happened when they let off the gas. Sandra felt she died inside for that but got the refire accepted.

One hour and a half into service, Devon pushed for the steak refire and had Dahmere walk it up. It was accepted, but Ramsay told the men to get their heads out of their butts. Johnathan felt they were close to bouncing back on the following ticket, and the men served their protein. However, Devon's filet was rare to the point blood was dripping out, and Ramsay kicked the men out of the kitchen. Ryan blamed Devon for losing his composure, while Ramsay pulled Dahmere aside for a quick meeting in the pantry. Because Dahmere was the only one who had a voice and pride that night, Ramsay named him the "Best of the Worst" and tasked him to nominate two people for elimination. As Dahmere returned upstairs, he deemed that night unacceptable and knew the men must get it together. Meanwhile, the women pushed out their final orders of the night and completed service. As Ramsay praised them for their strong performance, Sammi and Sandra hugged in celebration.

At the dorms, Ryan angrily told Devon that he knew better than that, and the latter agreed with that accusation. Still, Devon said he got swamped that night and knew the situation that night had. Dahmere said they all knew how to cook but crumbled under pressure. Dahmere reminded the men that they were in Hell's Kitchen because they were great chefs, a notion everyone agreed with, and did not understand why they got scared. Johnathan claimed he was not scared, but Dahmere said everyone needed to show it like he did because he always kept his composure.

After Dahmere's speech, Ryan told Devon that he only got on his case because he knew he could do better. Devon agreed with Ryan as the last two steaks got away from him, while Dahmere revealed what Ramsay assigned him to do. Ryan left the room in response, but Dahmere asked what would happen down the line when the pressure built up. Jason knew it would only get worse from there on while Ryan vented out his frustrations alone. Dahmere asked the men to plead their case to him, and Jermaine admitted that the flow he had did not work. While Jermaine thanked the men for helping him, he did not believe he deserved to go home as Devon made mistakes on meat and did not think the latter took ownership of the raw steaks. Devon argued that he asked multiple times for tickets, which snowballed into meat. Devon felt he could be home that night and blamed Jermaine for causing him to fail. Afterwards, Devon broke down as he knew he could do better.

After the men came downstairs, Ramsay was astounded that he had a lopsided service after their best service the previous night. Dahmere announced Jermaine as his first nominee for elimination and Devon as his second. Ramsay asked Jermaine where his fight had gone because he had seen four people surrounding him that night. Jermaine claimed he fought back as much as he could despite the initial problems and having multiple people on garnish. Then, Ramsay reminded Devon not to send him raw meat if he knew it was not ready, but the latter promised it would never happen again.

Afterwards, Ramsay gave Jermaine ten seconds to plead his case. Jermaine said his performances have been solid and he was a fighter. Ramsay asked Jermaine if he was the weakest chef, but while the latter said no, he struggled to answer who they were. Then, Devon said he was consistently evolving and learning from his mistakes and believed he was not the weakest chef for the men. When Ramsay asked Devon who was, the latter said Jermaine. After hearing their pleas, Ramsay sent Devon back in line and eliminated Jermaine for failing to get the garnish station under control from the start of service and bringing the blue kitchen down. During his exit interview, Jermaine accused Devon of attacking his character, but he told his other teammates to keep their heads held high.

After Jermaine left, Ramsay told the chefs to get their heads in the game before dismissing them for the evening. Devon felt frustrated upon his nomination but planned on stepping up as the leader he was. Then, Dahmere felt exhausted nominating one of his teammates, but he had to do it and hoped the following day was better.

Ramsay's comment: "Jermaine couldn't even handle the garnish station, so he ended up at the bus station."
