De La Salle School in Kampong Bahru opened its classrooms in January 1952 under the charge of Rev Bro Thomas, Headmaster and Director. The first batch of teachers and pupils came on transfer from SJI. There were 7 teachers and 196 boys in seven classes, from Primary 1 to Standard 5.

De La Salle School is one of the six Christian Brothers’ School of the De La Salle Order in Singapore. It started as a boys’ school in Kampong Bahru in 1952. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first Lasalle Brothers to Asia in 1852, the school was named after the founder, St John Baptist De La Salle.
The College offers 35 Diploma, BA (Hons) and postgraduate programmes in arts and design. LASALLE is a founding member of the University of the Arts Singapore which will open its doors for its first degree intake in 2024.
De La Salle School was founded in 1952 by the De La Salle Brothers, and is one of the eight Christian Brothers Schools (CBS) in Singapore. The School takes pride in providing an all-inclusive environment for students (Lasallians) and staff of all races and religions to learn and work together.
