Stephen Ralph Tredre (17 July 1963 – 8 December 1997) was an English actor and writer. The son of a doctor, he was born in London and educated at Epsom College, appearing as the lead role in a school production of Hamlet.
Winslet dated actor and writer Stephen Tredre for five years, until he ended their romance in 1997 – fearing her fledgling Hollywood career would suffer if she spent her days caring for him. After Winslet finished filming Titanic, Tredre died of bone cancer.
