May 30, 2024 · The Volvo B9TL (Bus chassis, 9-litre Transverse-mounted engine, Low floor) is a rear-engined low-floor double-decker city bus built by Volvo Buses since 2002. It is the successor to the older Volvo B10TL “Super Olympian” and the Volvo B7TL.
The Volvo B9TL is a low-floor double-decker bus built by Volvo from 2002 until 2018. It superseded the Volvo Super Olympian and the Volvo B7TL. The 2-axle version has been superseded by the Volvo B5TL in 2014 and the 3-axle version has been superseded by the Volvo B8L in 2018.
SBS3179A & SBS3181S features Helvetica Bold fonts as interior registration plates, similar to those of Batch 3 units. SBS3210S does not feature a CCTV holder above its rear CCTV, similar to those of Batch 4 units. SBS7702M is fitted with a larger rear EDS cut out.

A total of 200 buses were bought in 2006 by SBS Transit (SBST), making them the first wheelchair-accessible public buses in Singapore, having been fitted with manual wheelchair ramps. The last of these buses would reach their statutory lifespan of 17 years on 27 September 2023.

The B9TL Wrights registered under 3XXX are designated as Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) buses. They are purchased and operated using government funding for a period of ten years from September 2012.
With orders totaling up to 1,415 B9TL WEG2 buses for SBS Transit and expected to be fully delivered by 2017, this makes SBS Transit one of the largest Volvo B9TL operators in the world. In December 2015, Land Transport Authority bought out SBS Transit's contract for any remaining B9TL WEG2s yet to be delivered.
