Our Catcott reserve comprises of an amazing wetland mosaic of traditional hay meadows, wet woodland and wet grazing marsh and fen. This encourages a range of species to feed, breed and roost all year round and it has become internationally renowned for its birdlife. The reserve is made up of Catcott Lows and Catcott Heath.

Catcott is at the heart of the Somerset levels, adjacent to the village of Edington, seven miles north east of Bridgwater. Close by are the towns of Glastonbury and Street with England’s smallest city Wells not far away.

Catcott’s unbroken thread of history stretches back a long way. The Somerset Levels were settled in the Stone Age. Shards of Roman pottery have been discovered near Lippetts Way.
