Ganzhou (Chinese: 赣州; pinyin: Gànzhōu), alternately romanized as Kanchow, is a prefecture-level city in the south of Jiangxi province, China, bordering Fujian to the east, Guangdong to the south, and Hunan to the west.
Ganzhou is China’s largest settlement of Hakka people which accounts for more than 95% of the city's population. There are more than 1,000 Hakka traditional round houses, mainly scattered in Longnan, Anyuan and Xinfeng Counties.
Situated in southern Jiangxi, Ganzhou (赣州) lies at the center of the Jiangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, and Hunan region and is where the Gan (赣) River starts. Ganzhou has a long history and today has well-preserved Song-era city walls as well as multiple national scenic areas, nature reserves, and forest parks.
