Belyov (Russian: Белёв) is a town and the administrative center of Belyovsky District in Tula Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Oka River. Population: 13,180 (2018); 13,918 ( 2010 Russian census ) .
The Battle of Belyov ( Russian: Битва под Белёвом) was fought in 1437 near Belyov between the troops of the Grand Duchy of Moscow under the command of Dmitry Shemyaka and Tatars led by Ulugh Muhammad. The result of the battle was the complete defeat of the Russian army.
Belyovsky District is located in the west of Tula Oblast, on hilly terrain in the central Russian Plain. The district is 80 km southwest of the city of Tula, and about 200 km southwest of Moscow.
