May 20, 2007 · Thanks, To my understanding there are or were two basic dialects in Iraq. They are named by how the word "قلت" is pronounced: gilit or qeltu. Jewish and Christian Baghdadi were basically the same dialect and it was a qeltu -dialect, while the predominant Muslim dialect was a gilit- dialect.
