Mar 11, 2011 · I understand "on" should be used in the following two situations: 1)on Monday afternoon 2)on the afternoon of Monday, July 3. But what about "on the afternoons of Monday and Friday" ? Should I use "on" or "in" here? (Google seems to lean to "in".) Thanks in advance!
Nov 8, 2006 · keep it simple there are 3 categories morning, afternoon and evening. you can call it morning after 12 midnight until 12 noon. then it is the afternoon obviously until 6 o'clock, when it becomes the evening up till 12 midnight...night and day are something different again, usually meaning when its light and when its dark. therefore say good day ...

And if it's the end of the night, then just goodnight or good night, and that can be one word or two words.
