Aug 2, 2020 · All of our laundry is in plastic bags and I got a stand up steamer that heats to 248F and all clothescwe wear/use get steamed before use, along w couches curtains etc. Bed bug mattress covers and pillowcases, vacuuming every day, washing the floors and walls in a bleach solution (I'd tried PineSol but that just irritates them, bleach actually suffocates them).

Japanese news says increasing foreign travelers are the cause of bed bug bringing in, but the situation is mild now because of pandemic.

It has nothing to do with how clean you are, all it takes is a single bed bug to hitch a ride and it can lead to infestation. So don't blame yourself for it. However, there are steps to reduce your exposure and prevent an infestation from taking hold.
