- Malaysia’s first Heritage Site: Kinabalu Park. Kinabalu Park became Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000. Covering an area of 754 square kilometers, the national park surrounds Mount Kinabalu in northwest Sabah.
- Kota Kinabalu: A city on the sea. Kota Kinabalu, literally City of Kinabalu, is Sabah’s capital along the South China Sea. Regular flights connect with Kuala Lumpur and other parts of Malaysian Borneo including Lahad Datu and Sandakan on the east coast.
