Al-Balad literally translates to The Town. This is the historic area of Jeddah and founded in the 7th century and serving as the centre of Jeddah. The area is particularly known for its coral houses or ‘Bayt Al-Bag or Bayt Al-Sha’ar’. Their architecture highlights the construction of the houses. They were carved from the coral of the Red Sea.
