The BWF World Ranking is the official ranking of the Badminton World Federation for badminton players who participate in tournaments sanctioned by Badminton World Federation. It is used to determine the qualification for the World Championships and Summer Olympic Games, as well as BWF World Tour tournaments.
The BWF has five sets of rankings for players: World Ranking (a ranking for all open events except junior international tournaments) BWF World Tour Ranking – “HSBC Race to Guangzhou” (a ranking for BWF World Tour tournaments including BWF Tour Super 100 Tournaments)

The ranking includes up to 10 tournaments with the highest points earned over the last 52 weeks. Players earn ranking points by playing in, and winning matches in tournaments. The higher the level of tournament, the higher the number of ranking points that could be earned.

Top 50 – 100 – 500 points. Each country is awarded points on the basis of the above calculation and the BWF World Team Rankings are determined by the sum total earned by each country over the preceding 52 weeks. India is currently ranked ninth in the BWF World Team Rankings.
