9gag is on a ever steeper hill downwards in terms of quality of content and userbase. Gone are the days of funny memes and funny comments. Propaganda, hateful language and ads are majority of posts by now. In the the last years I found it only bearable by filtering out about three out of four posts from my feed.

They blend themselves in the community to blatantly steal content from other websites, censor comments to prevent 9gaggers from finding out the truth, promote their agenda through fake upvotes, manipulate submission times and more. They are also not very bright.

It has a similar layout to 9gag in that you can scroll down to browse a stream of images, but has much, much fewer reposts, better content (no advice animals/confession bears, newer memes) and a better community (less niceguys, less defeners, less euphoria, less horny kids, etc.) Leddit. It's less about funny memes and more about niche community memes (especially for far-right and third position memes). They are less dank overall to be sure, but you can find your way into certain dank crevices.
