  1. Car rental prices change by the day and are very much tied to supply and demand. If a company does have many cars to rent on a particular day, they will raise rates to squeeze every nickel out of a rental. So if you're trying to rent in a high-demand period, expect to pay more.

  2. According to the Enterprise website to rent you need to have a valid license (G2 is fine), valid form of payment, and meet the age restrictions (must be over 21, if you're under 25 you'll have to pay an extra ~$20 per day) Chiming in, I was able to use a G2 at Hertz and Budget. Just use Turo. Easy peasy. I looked up online and got mixed answers.

  3. Mar 17, 2021 · Hotwire and Priceline are usually cheaper than booking directly. If you pick the random car rental agency. They usually give you a list of a few major car rental car agencies and don’t tell you which one until you pay. Direct as the company I work for offers a better deal when booking direct, than third party sites.

  4. Nov 9, 2019 · Things I learnt: Get a smallish car as many side streets are absolutely tiny. Google maps easily got us around Japan even though we understand little to no Japanese. Toll costs add up as we spent all up over 25,000 yen for the whole trip. Everyone speeds! Trucks, buses, cars all going easily 20km/h over the speed limit all the time.

  5. I rented a car seat once when I was traveling alone with my 5yo and 2yo, only because it would have been too difficult to manage all the luggage and stroller and 2 kids PLUS the toddler car seat. The car seat I got from the rental was clean and installed just fine with LATCH but it took a lot of time to install and size everything appropriately.

  6. Dec 6, 2021 · Costs (for entire trip): Rental car = $631, Gas = $416, Hotel = $400. EDIT: This will be my first time driving long distance, and it will only be me (31F) and my 80 lbs / 8 month old puppy. [Paid off 2019 Toyota C-HR with 34,000 miles on it. Road trip will be approx. 3,000 miles.] Share.

  7. Either wash the car just before you return it or parlay 10€. I prepaid cause I didn’t wanna chance it to forget or have the auto wash damage the car. Even with that fee the 10 day rental was stupid cheap. Like $209. Side note: most all rentals in Roma are manual transmissions. Make sure you can drive one before going.

  8. Dec 1, 2020 · I found that the amount of the deposit varies widely between vendors in Mexico. My choices were $2,000, $1200, and the much more reasonable Hertz at 750. Lastly, I had travel insurance with COVID coverage that also covered my car rental. So, check you credit card options, travel insurance options, etc to see what outside insurance may help you ...

  9. Studying downloaded basic Japanese rules of the road and traffic signs helped. Cars rented for about $90/day, including the maximum rental agency insurance. While fuel is expensive, I drove slow in a rental with great gas milage (my 2nd rental was a hybrid), so fuel costs weren't significant.

  10. Always. Even when I totaled one of their cars, they were so nice to deal with. Never had any problems renting from Enterprise, just annoying that they not only put a $200 deposit on your cc but if you have any secondary drivers it's $200 as well. Understandable, but just be aware of that.
