For instance, you might say, "I hadn't known [or been aware of] that before I arrived in Tulsa. Had I known that earlier I wouldn't have bothered to come." I have not known that before.. I can't think of a context in which this would be used.

  3. Nov 26, 2004 · In the present perfect, only HAVE DIVED is ok. Here is why: English, like other germanic languages, has past participles ending in -n and -ed (compare to German -en and -t). For example, have begun, have run, have strung. Exceptions like "have come" came about due to loss of the -en suffix (compare to German "habe gekommen" which still has it).

  5. Apr 9, 2010 · In BrE, the minority of people who don't say 'I haven't got' or 'I don't have' tend to say 'I have no' rather than 'I have not a/any'. However, there are a few expressions, such as 'I haven't a clue', in which 'have not', usually contracted to 'haven't, is used. Not open for further replies. Would this also be a possible answer: "She will be upset not having been asked." Why "not to have been asked" ? - is it because "she wasn't asked".
