May 30, 2015 · The Spectacular Now is a seemingly simple movie about a teen who wants to make his ex-girlfriend jealous and in the process gets drunk. If that's how you saw this movie, well, you wouldn't exactly be wrong; that is, essentially, the basic plot of the film.
Jan 3, 2014 · Hey reddit people, I just saw 'The Spectacular Now' and have done quite a bit of reading into it. The thing that bothers me is the ending. Most of the review sites that I've read sees Shailene Woodley's character Aimee, smiling at Sutter (Miles Teller). The look on her face, in my opinion is not very optimistic about their relationship at all.
Jan 28, 2014 · She's presented as the standard "nice girl" ideal, which seems to say that she's something to strive towards, without recognizing how dangerous that is. She immediately forgives someone who's pretty much directly responsible for her getting run over by a car. That's not okay.
Dec 24, 2015 · The whole film is a deconstruction of his hedonistic way of life, completely stripping away the façade he spent years building up. You see him at his lowest of lows and it's at that point where the film is at its most affecting. It's not intended to be a character redemption story for Sutter.

He went on to star in 5 movies that involved car crashes, including Whiplash, The Spectacular Now, and Bleed For This.
