Raise the Titanic is a 1980 adventure film produced by Lew Grade 's ITC Entertainment and directed by Jerry Jameson. The film, written by Eric Hughes (adaptation) and Adam Kennedy (screenplay), is based on the 1976 book of the same name by Clive Cussler.

The movie's basic premise-that it might be possible to raise and salvage the great ship Titanic-is irresistible. We get some hot scientific gobbledygook about how the Titanic might really be in pretty good shape, down there two miles below the frigid Atlantic, where it wouldn't rust because of the oxygen shortage in the water.
After a lengthy search, the Titanic is located and the search team, with help from the U.S. Navy, begins the dangerous job of raising the ship from the seabed. One of the submersibles, Starfish, experiences a cabin flood and implodes.
With a sudden sharp crack, the tow cables snap up from the sea as the tug boats take the strain and begin to pull the Titanic from the salvage location for the journey to New York where huge crowds line the embankments to watch the unsinkable legend finally make port – if somewhat 75 years too late.
