"It's a Big Country: An American Anthology" is a very unusual movie and is clearly a product of its times. While such a schmaltzy bit of unabashed patriotism and propaganda would be laughed at today, following WWII and in the midst of the Red Scare, it all made perfect sense back in the day.

Oct 21, 2009 · If you like sentimental films about the Home Front during WW2, this movie is for you, though it's a post-war call for unity. It's pretty preachy, but the sentiments are worthwhile. Interesting how there's a whole chapter on how African Americans are a "credit to our country," it doesn't show them interacting with whites.
