  5. Yeah, Sky Captain is a wonderful film technically, and really hits on all the visual beats/feels of 1930’s/1940’s pulp, but the movie itself is indeed boring. I used to have it on blu-ray, until I watched it one day and realized the shine wears off real quick once you get over the presentation.

In its heedless energy and joy, it reminded me of how I felt the first time I saw "Raiders of the Lost Ark."
