Apr 29, 2019 · Beautiful Sunday at a park. I was on my way to Civil Service Club (Bukit Batok) to attend a function. After alighting at Bukit Batok MRT station, I realized I was early for the function and decided to drop by this neighborhood park for a walk. This is my first time visiting this park.

The Hainanese were the last wave of Chinese immigrants to arrive in Singapore, and many worked as chefs for the then-British colonial government. Established in 1952, the old-school Hainanese restaurant, Thien Kee, is—in my opinion—the best place for chicken rice on the island.
