Reich first encountered the lead guitarist, Jonny Greenwood, in September 2011 at the Sacrum Profanum festival in Kraków, Poland, where Greenwood was playing Reich's Electric Counterpoint with Ensemble Modern.
Radio Rewrite: V. Fast Nonesuch released Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Steve Reich’s album Radio Rewrite on September 30, 2014 (in the UK, October 6). Co-commissioned for and recorded by Alarm Will Sound, the title piece references two songs by the English band Radiohead.
It references two songs by Radiohead reworked into an original composition for non rock instruments. The performance features Alarm Will Sound conducted by Alan Pierson. An additional highlight is a completely new recording of Electric Counterpoint performed by Radiohead guitarist, Jonny Greenwood.
