Allen Hetteen, Edgar's brother, who actually brought the Polaris snowmobiles to Maine for these test trips, is deceased. Johnson, however was in charge of getting the prototypes ready for the trips and quickly recognized many names of the pioneers who came to the reunion.

Arctic Cat was founded in 1960 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota by Edgar Hetteen, who had already been a key player in the development of snowmobiles. Along with his brother Allan and friend David Johnson, Hetteen formed a company to manufacture vehicles for traveling in the snow.
Its founders are the Hetteen brothers (Allan and Edgar), together with David Johnson. The founders of Polaris had been business partners long before Polaris was founded, working for Hetteen Hoist and Derrick.
