This film both traumatized me as a kid and simultaneously made me certain Saiorse Ronan was going to be an absolute star. The narrative is quite flawed, and the film never lives up to the first 30 minutes.

I also like that he got away with it mostly because that is probably the most realistic outcome for most families in the same situation.
