Feb 2, 2023 · Artie blew all the opportunities that came his way, almost purposely, and I doubt he has many regrets about any of it. I agree with some of that. Artie had a huge case of imposter syndrome not to mention a tremendous guilt for his success and money. He also romanticizes dark shit like loneliness, drugs, and regret.
Yeah. I put sober companion in quotes because most of the Stern Show listeners (and SS staff) knew he wasn’t a real sober companion and that Artie had no intention of getting clean when he hired him. He was Artie’s friend who was a disgraced police officer that Art called “the bad cop”. I really hope Artie stays clean.
The Mad TV writers only found him funny when he was playing a fat degenerate (himself) on stage. Furthermore, Artie was his funniest on the Stern show when he was asleep in the studio, drunk off his ass in Vegas, or in the midst of a drug fueled fight with a staffer. It used to be on YouTube as, "artie gets dark on his podcast" or something like that, but got taken down. He starts off being depressed and saying his liver is going to die, he doesn't have long to live, but everyone came to the show to laugh (lol) and so to start the show. Well thats the beginning of it anyways.

Nov 26, 2020 · Tim Sabien says he told Artie on a Thursday that they would be parting company and Artie went home and stabbed himself in the stomach. The 12/09/2009 show was on a Wednesday but Artie didn’t stab himself until Saturday January 02, 2010. It’s unclear to me if they fired him on Thursday 12/10/2009 or a later Thursday prior to the stabbing.
