Bob Holman is an American poet and poetry activist, most closely identified with the oral tradition, the spoken word, and poetry slam.
Times Magazine, Holman is the author of over 20 poetry collections. He has published three books since COVID, including two written 50 years apart, Life Poem, a book-length poem written when he was 19, and the new and selected The Unspoken, Plus Bob Holman’s India Journals, the making of the documentary Ginsberg’s Karma.
Bob Holman’s poetry has traversed genres, styles and media since the 1970’s, when he began Writing, Performing, and directing Poets Theater productions by Mayakovsky, Artaud, O'Hara & others @ St. Marks POETRY PROJECT.

Spoken-word poet and arts activist Bob Holman was born in Harlan, Kentucky, and grew up in Ohio. He earned a BA at Columbia University and also studied at the St. Mark’s Poetry Project with Ted Berrigan, Alice Notley, and Bernadette Mayer.
