The English DTS-HD MA 5.1 track is a cacophony of action, taking every opportunity to spread the effects far and wide to envelop the listener in a bubble of excellence. There is terrific separation, both left/right, front/back and within the mix itself.
Feb 22, 2005 · This is one of my favourite movies, largely because of the superb John Debney score. I think he was told to "out-Korngold Korngold", and he certainly delivers against that measure. Certainly much better than the Zimmer "Pirates" scores. I have owned it on LD (excellent), DVD, BD and the latest 4K UHD does it justice IMO.
Aug 30, 2009 · We arrive at Cutthroat Island on-board a resplendent MPEG-4 transfer that, at full sail, spans a gloriously wide 2.35:1 aspect. It clearly stands a mast-height above any version of the film that I have seen before. This transfer has had plaudits aplenty already and, although this is certainly a worthy upgrade, I still have a few issues with it.

Oct 1, 2003 · Relatively sharp, the transfer copes with the wide range of colours admirably. Saturation is good, with colours looking natural and defined: the blues of the sea in the some of the Cutthroat Island scenes look sublime, and the forest scenes look lush and rich and well defined.
