Directors change each block (1-2 episodes) and even writers change each episode, but the showrunner (which would be the head writer, Damon Lindelof for example) has complete creative control over the entire series. They are “the big boss” in television.
May 25, 2024 · The fact that it was good tells me that Damon Lindelof wasn't the key writer on that show. A very simple Google search will tell you not only was he the primary writer, but he was the creator of the show. The whole show was pretty much his vision. You seem really hung up about Lost. You know that show was created before Lindelof was involved.
Jul 23, 2023 · But Damon rewatched the pilot and saw the scene of a polar bear attacking everyone, after Walt reads a comic about a polar bear. Damon was fixated on that idea and figured that Walt manifested that polar bear into reality from the powers of the island. He thought that a psychic kid was a great explanation for why the others would want him.
I think Lindelof is an overrated hack who keeps failing upwards. Lost was good until you realized they weren't going to explain all the weird, random developments. And Prometheus had so much going for it - cast, art style, decent basic plot outline, and it was the script that ruined it to me.
Jun 26, 2020 · Yeah I definitely think that the network was responsible for a lot of the imperfections of Lost. I do think it's also important to acknowledge that Damon Lindelof has grown tremendously as a writer and showrunner since then. For example, as a showrunner he has improved tremendously in building his writers room.

May 22, 2018 · Lindelof is trying to ensure that the broadest possible audience is able to connect with his work. As for politics, as others pointed out, Watchmen is an inherently political story and an adaptation/exploration of that world that didn't acknowledge the politics would feel very false.
