Who knows (or cares) what really happened, but it would strike me as pretty weird for Maia to make up a false allegation like that, in victory, when she clearly didn't need to and seemed aware that calling it out wasn't a good look. So my rational brain tells me there could have been something going on.

Jul 16, 2008 · Kind of an overly angry response by O'Neill in my opinion. She aquitted herself admirably against Maia, but she didn't exactly look to be ready for title contention. Furthermore, I don't see any issue with what Maia said -- she wasn't accusatory so much as observational.
Jan 4, 2023 · Interesting match up. Both great grapplers. Maia is a former title challenger who went 5 rounds with Valentina Shevchenko. Casey O'neill is one of the biggest prospects in WMMA right now, if she gets pass Maia, that division is gonna get very fun!!! She is young and talented!!
