And league tables tell you very little - they're very unreliable and all rely on different metrics. In my conception, the very top tier is Oxbridge, and then after Oxbridge its Imperial, St. Andrews, LSE, UCL, Durham. Exeter is on the next tier, along with universities like Bristol and Warwick, but above places like Manchester and Nottingham.

Also, don't look at rankings, Exeter is better than Lancaster. Plus, Lancaster as in the actual city and uni is a bit, small, middle of nowhere, boring etc; but that's my opinion.
