William Sargent. Actor: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. German-born American actor William Sargent was born Wolf Jakubowicz in Berlin, Germany in 1930. His family escaped the Nazis in 1933 and settled in Palestine where he grew up. In 1947, his family emigrated to the United States, shortened their name to Jacobs and became naturalized citizens.
