So far I've read 3 Murakami books including this one (Kafka on the Shore & Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World) and the one thing I can confidently say is that they have all exuded a dreamy, haunting atmosphere. Sputnik Sweetheart takes a while to get there however.
