Kazuo Kasahara (笠原 和夫, Kasahara Kazuo, 8 May 1927 – 12 December 2002) was a Japanese screenwriter particularly known for his work in the yakuza film genre. He was born in the Nihonbashi area of Tokyo and dropped out of Nippon University.

笠原 和夫 （かさはら かずお、 1927年 5月8日 - 2002年 12月12日 ）は、 日本 の 脚本家 。 東京府 日本橋 出身。 日本大学 中退。 経歴. 1927年 （昭和2年） - 東京府 日本橋 生まれ。 1945年 （昭和20年） - 海軍特別幹部練習生に志願、 広島県 大竹海兵団 に入団。 1946年 （昭和21年） - 日本大学 三島予科に入学。 日本大学法学部新聞学科 入学。 社会人になってからは、米軍労務者、喫茶店経営など職を転々とした [1] 1954年 （昭和29年） - 東映 に入社、宣伝部に配属される。 1956年 （昭和31年） - 東映の社内シナリオコンクールで1位入選。 以後プロの脚本家として執筆を始める。

Due to the success of the first film, Toei demanded that screenwriter Kazuo Kasahara finally write about the Hiroshima yakuza war depicted in Kōichi Iiboshi's articles, which are in-turn based on the journals of Kōzō Minō, and split it into two films.
